Two tools for everyday legal work. Both run in your web browser. Neither one needs an account, and neither one sends your files anywhere.
6068redact removes personal identifying information from large PDFs before they go to an AI system. It supports compliance with California Business and Professions Code section 6068.1.
TabStudio records your cameras, a shared Chrome tab with its sound, and your microphone into one MP4 file. Use it for client presentations, training videos, and case explainers. It is a desktop app for Macs and does not run on phones.
I practice insurance defense and coverage law in California. When a job came up that no product handled well, I built a tool for it. If a tool is useful to me, it is probably useful to other lawyers, so I put it here.
Nothing you put into these tools reaches me. I cannot see your documents, your recordings, or your clients' names. How each tool keeps that promise is explained on its own card.
Removes personal identifying information from large PDFs before they go to an AI system. The file never leaves your computer. Supports Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 6068.1.
You enter the protected person's full name and any variants (nicknames, maiden names, misspellings). Each match becomes a black box with the person's initials in white, like J.R., so the reader can still follow who is who.
These become solid black boxes: Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, account numbers (medical record, policy, claim, member, bank), the date of birth you enter in any common format, and any addresses, phone numbers, or other names you add.
Not redacted: treating physicians and other providers, clinical content, medications, billing amounts, CPT and ICD codes, and dates that are not birth dates.
If any page has no text layer, processing stops and the page numbers are listed. The tool never produces an incomplete file.
There is no server. The page's security policy blocks every outgoing connection after it loads, including connections to its own host. The redaction engine and fonts are bundled into the page. No analytics, no error reporting, no outside scripts.
To check for yourself in Chrome: open DevTools, pick Network, run a redaction, and confirm no requests appear after the page loads.
Record your cameras, a shared Chrome tab with its sound, and your microphone into one clear MP4 file. No account, no upload, no editing software needed.
Walk a client through a document on screen. Record a training session for staff. Explain a case for a presentation. Switch between camera and screen as you talk, and finish with one file.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Layouts | Camera full frame, picture-in-picture over the tab, or tab only. Switch while recording. |
| Picture-in-picture | Drag it, resize it, pick a round or square shape. |
| Teleprompter | Scroll your script under the camera while you record. |
| Pause and resume | Stop for a moment without starting a new file. |
| Crash protection | The recording is saved as you go, so a browser crash does not lose it. |
| Hotkeys | Start, stop, pause, and switch layouts from the keyboard. |
| Format | H.264 by default, with an HEVC option for smaller files. |
TabStudio is a desktop app. It uses the browser's own tab capture and video encoding, which phones and tablets do not offer, so it does not run on an iPhone or iPad. It is built and tested on Chrome on Apple Silicon Macs. Wear headphones so the tab audio does not feed back into your microphone.
Nothing is uploaded. The recording is written to your computer as you go, and the download is the file.
iantools is a personal project of Ian Corzine, Esq., a California attorney. The tools are free, run in your browser, and keep your files on your computer.
Ian is a California attorney with 28 years of practice in litigation, insurance defense and coverage, and technology law. He is admitted in California, all California federal district courts, and the Ninth Circuit.
He builds software for his own practice. The tools that turn out to be useful beyond one desk end up here.
hello@iancorzine.comEach tool runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts, no uploads, and no analytics. This site itself sets no cookies and runs no trackers. Your choices on this page (like the "useful" buttons) stay in your own browser.
